As we told you a few days ago, a brand new Bob Dylan Rolling Thunder compilation is poised for release from WatchDog DVD. It is a factory pressed, double DVD set in NTSC format. "The Rolling Thunder Video Anthology" will bring together all the worthwhile professional footage from both 1975 and 1976. The legendary �Hard Rain� TV special will be included twice, from two different sources (The Japanese version has better picture quality, but is edited and has Japanese text frequently rolling across the screen!). All the material has been tracked down to the best available source tapes, and the packaging will include an eight-page booklet with extensive sleeve notes. Disc 1 includes: �Hard Rain� US TV Broadcast Version. Recorded at the State University in Fort Collins, Colorado on 23rd May 1976. Plus, the rejected 1976 TV Special, recorded at the Starlight Ballroom in the Belleview Biltmore Hotel, Clearwater, Florida on 22nd April 1976. Disc 2 features: �Renaldo And Clara� Unreleased Concert Footage.
Recorded in various venues in the North America in November/December 1975. Also, the �Hard Rain� Japanese TV Version. Superior Picture Quality to the US Version, but featuring one song less and also Japanese Text frequently appearing over the picture. Recorded at the State University in Fort Collins, Colorado on 23rd May 1976. And the set rounds out with �World Of John Hammond� US TV Broadcast. Recorded at WTTW-TV studios in Chicago on 10th September 1975. (The final song taken from an inferior source to the first two songs.) This title is set to hit the streets as we speak.
A new Faces title is always welcome and we are certainly anxious to get our grubby mits on a new recording from San Diego 1971! As we previously reported, a yet unidentified label is readying this recording of The Faces at San Diego Arena at the peak of their popularity, when Ronnie Lane was still with the group. The title is "Five Guys Walk Into A Stadium..." and is a perfect companion release to the official Rhino Faces Box Set, "Five Guys Walk Into A Bar...", scheduled street dates for the box set are: June 28th in the UK & July 10th in the USA.
A new Led Zeppelin title is certainly causing some controversy! The Japanese Boot Label, Empress Valley, announced last week that it has a brand new soundboard recording of the mighty Zep from an undocumented-previously unheard of San Diego show on March 14th, 1975. Until last week, the only '75 date recognized in San Diego was on March 10th. Since then, some resourceful Zeppelin fanatics have been busy super sleuthing to find out more and...it seems that this date is documented to some degree. There was some confusion about the March 14th show possibly being moved up to the 10th but, now it seems both dates did take place. I guess we will know for sure in another week. "Conspiracy Theory" is set to hit the streets on June 12th. The early word is that this recording is comparable to the EV title "Flying Cirus", which is one of the most perfect soundboards you can find. Stay tuned....
Look for more Prince titles to surface over the summer. His purpleness is really tearing up stages across the states to rave reviews. The recordings are starting to be shared at the usual haunts on the net, you know where to go for that! I am certain that any label possessing earlier recordings from Prince, will be hard pressed to pull them out of the vault and capitalize on his current popularity and high visibility. After his Rock N' Roll Hall Of Fame performance, Prince's stock has risen dramatically. Even I want to make sure I catch a show on this tour!
This has been an exciting week here at HotWacks On-line. If you have made it this far, you have undoubtedly enjoyed the changes we have made. It is very difficult to stay on top of all the releases in the underground market but, as we have tried to gain the respect back from our membership...we have also attempted to establish credibility for our services within the supplier network.
