New Pink Floyd Recording surfaces and New Beatles BBC...
03 Oct 2004

Leading off this week is the PINK FLOYD news we told you about earlier in the week...The Sirene Label has the good fortune of being able to debut a new recording to bootleg CD. "Winterland 1972" features both shows from the Winterland Auditorium in San Francisco on September 23rd and 24th, 1972. The first night is the selling point here, as it is making it's first appearance on Bootleg CD for collectors, and a recording that has had minimal circulation in trading circles, if any. It is a 3CD set and is a limited edition title of only 300 copies.

Exile has another release on the way...this time, it is a NEW BARBARIANS title called "California Grooving" and features a new soundboard recording from the Oakland Coliseum on May 20th, 1979. This will be released under the Exile Original Masters moniker and should be a fun listen. I should mention that we've got a copy of the new Jointrip DVD "The ROLLING STONES Live At The L.A.Forum 1975" on the way to review. So, we can pass along
our assessment of this new title that's causing some discussion amongst collectors and traders.

The Godfather Records family of labels has released a batch of titles this past week to point out....from the Goodfellas DVD Label comes DAVID BOWIE "The Last Night Of The Low And Heroes Tour", a pro-shot/soundboard document recorded in Tokyo on December 12th, 1978. On Apocalypse Sound DVD are 3 new titles...METALLICA "Justice Is Done" features an October 10, 1988 performance from the Hammersmith Odeon in London, plus...some bonus footage from Tokyo 2003, Sydney 2004 and a Top Of The Pops TV performance. Also from Apocalypse is IRON MAIDEN "Hell Ain't A Bad Place", another pro-shot/soundboard production and this one is recorded in Mexico City on October 2, 1992....the labels' other October Release is from OASIS... "Pyramid Stage 2004" captures the bands' June 25th, 2004 performance at the UK Glastonbury Festival in pro-shot/soundboard quality. The Godfather Records does have their own representation out there on the street this week, their latest CD offering is PINK FLOYD "Washington Echoes"... a November 16, 1971 audience recording from the Lisner Audiorium in Washington D.C.

The Playmen Label also released a couple of other titles last week...GEORGE HARRISON "All Things Must Pass: Revised Edition" is a 3-disc set of 44 outtakes in soundboard quality...Playmen's other title is THE BEATLES "AT The Beeb Discovered Tracks", supposedly, 60 newly discovered BBC recordings, making their first appearance on CD! This is an intriging title. In other things Beatles...the Silent Seas DVD Label has a handful of new titles that were just released. The Beatles "On Tour 1964" compiles the Washington D.C. show from February 11th, Blokker on June 6th, Melbourne June 17th & Los Angeles, August 23rd...the other Silent Seas titles are "TV Tapes", Volumes 1,2 & 3...an ambitious compilation of rare TV appearances.

There's a new YES title being released on the Highland Label called "Solo Chaser"...it is an August 16, 1976 recording from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. From Main Stream this week comes another MAHAVISHNU ORCHESTRA soundboard release..."Winging The Infinite" is from Berkeley on November 9th, 1972. A generic label CROSBY, STILLS, NASH & YOUNG release has just surfaced...titled "Studio Archives 1969", it's a 1 disc document of studio outtakes from the soundboard and is being produced in a Limited Edition quantity of 300. Sounds very interesting.

And finally, from Mid-Valley this week comes news of a new ERIC CLAPTON Box Set called "Romantic Isolation"....it's a 6CD set that houses 3 sounboard recordings from Royal Albert Hall in London on January 10th, 11th & 12th, 1987. Empress Valley has announced a hard street-date for their next LED ZEPPELIN releases....October 18th will be the date for "Have You Ever Experienced", "Rock Explosion", "Dr. Jimmy" & "My Brain Hurts", along with the Akashic Label "Auckland" release. In other Zeppelin news, the Hootchie Cootchie Label is getting a 20-disc JIMMY PAGE & ROBERT PLANT Box set ready!...It is an EXTREMELY Limited and #'d box that will feature EVERY Page/Plant Japanese Concert, along with a DVD-R of one of their Japanese Press Conferences, "Stairway To Heaven" from Japanese Television and more.....Also, Look for our Genuine Masters new title reviews to be posted later today...more great stuff from GM.

Thanks for visiting and I'll meet you back here next Sunday at HotWacks On-line for Bootleg News, a week in review here on the RECORDED HIGHLIGHTS & ACTION REPLAYS Page.
