The Late Edition of Bootleg News...
26 Jul 2005

Plenty of Bootleg News out of Japan today so let's get to the latest.

Sirene is on a serious PINK FLOYD bender with new titles just announced..."Pepperland 1970" will feature an audience recording from Pepperland Auditorium in San Rafael, California on October 17th, 1970 and I love the late '68 photo of the band they use for the front cover shot!...nice!...also on the way is "The Last Few Bricks", a 2CD set of their final Wall Show at London's Earl's Court on June 17th, 1981...also included in this weeks' announcements are apparently re-issues of their FLOYD titles "The Warm Thrill Of Confusion" and "Amsterdam Rock Circus". You can find out more on these latter titles in the reviews posted right here at HotWacks On-line. Other titles announced today include...CROSBY, STILLS & NASH "By The Time We Got To Brighton", 2CDR of their June 27th show in Brighton, England...and "What's That Sound In Hammersmith?", another 2CDR release of the next nights' show on June 28th at the Hammersmith Carling Apollo -both coming from Trial...on the Zion Label is TOTO "Heal This Time", a 2CD release of their Tokyo concert at NHK Hall on April 25th, 1988...on DVD from Power Gate DVD Masters is cool VELVET REVOLVER package, "Slither Donington", that boasts a "killer" audience-shot vid of their performance at the Download Festival in Donnington Park, England on June 11th as the main feature, but the set includes a bonus DVD-R of Pro-shot footage of the band at the Rock Am Ring show in Eifel, Germany the previous week on June 5th plus a pro-shot clip of "I Fall To Pieces" from Donnington Park to boot!

New LED ZEPPELIN titles were announced today as well. Tarantura will release 2 different versions of "Wreckage In Boston" for collectors to seek out...the 5CD box set will feature 3 Boston audience recordings (from September 9th, 1970 (2CD) - September 7th, 1971(1CD) and what would seem to be but unconfirmed, the new MaloneyJoe Boston Garden source from July 20th, 1973(2CD))- there will be a numbered, Limited Edition of 100 copies in a Deluxe, "Film Case Edition"...and a Limited "Paper Box" Edition. Also from Tarantura, their ZEP Central Park '69 release is titled "Woody Woodrocker Show" (July 21, 1969)and a 4th Edition of "The Diploma" (Leicester, November 25, 1971) is on the way as well. Empress Valley provided a sneak peek into their release schedule today...coming soon is "Baton Rouge", finally a new version of the February 28th, 1975 recording!...this one was due for a re-release. I'm surprised it took this long, actually. Also coming from EV is "Chicago", a 7/6/73 soundboard (rehearsals? I still say those are from Minneapolis '75 anyway! But I digress.) Badgeholders' next title will be called "Top Of The World" and this is the Tampa Stadium audience tape from May 5th, 1973. Beezlebub Records snuck in another release, that I wasn't aware of anyway..."Absolute Hysteria" claims to be a previously unreleased source of the Boston show on September 9th, 1970...I will throw a line out to those collecting these shows to help direct fellow members on whether this is indeed a new source and/or a worthy title to pick up.

Other recent releases we mentioned this week...coming soon from MisterClaudel is PAUL McCARTNEY & WINGS "Wings Over Switzerland", a 2CD of The Pavillion show in Montreux on July 22nd, 1972...Deep Six has issued the FREE title "Outtaker" that is a single disc crammed with b-sides and rare outtakes...THE BAND "Plays On" is a recent title on the Screamer Label that documents their late show at The Music Inn in Lenox, Massachusetts on July 18th, 1976, from an audience source...from The Godfather Records, a couple of U2 titles: "Into The Light" is a single CD featuring live tracks from London's Twickenham Stadium on June 18th, 2005 and Brainpool TV Studios in Cologne on June 13th, "Coexist" features a great show from The United Center in Chicago on May 12th, 2005 with bonus tracks...Godfather has some BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN titles also, "Powerful Thing" features his show in Bologna, Italy on June 4th with bonus tracks from Cleveland 2005, "Once Upon A Time In Rome" is from the Palalottomatica on June 6, 2005 with bonus tracks from Denver 2005, "Dream Milano" features his June 7th concert with bonus tracks...SYSTEM OF A DOWN "You Depend On Our Protection" captures the band live at The Astoria in London from the soundboard with bonus tracks from their SNL appearance and London 2001...OASIS "Calling All The Stars", 1CD from the BBC, May 6th, 2005 plus the complete show at The Claphand Grand in London on May 22nd and Euro MTV on May 12th...COLDPLAY "Candem" is a soundboard of their June 6th London gig. It not only features their Regal Theater concert from January 26th, 1983 but tacks on 8 rare TV appearances by the band in a beautiful triple fold digipack.

A couple of new mentions...Mainstream has released SANTANA "Space Caravan", 1CD with the show from Stadthalle in Freiburg, Germany on December 11th, 1972...on the Integral Label comes vintage ELTON JOHN, "My Gift" features an audienc sourced recording from Hixon Hall in Tampa, Florida on May 28th, 1971 with WABC-FM tracks from November 17th, 1970 on a single disc...and we also mentioned the new titles from Bondage Music early in the week...METALLICA "Blacken' Them All" is a stereo soundboard from Century Hall in Nagoya, Japan on March 23rd, 1993...while QUEENSRYCHE "Operation: Perfectcrime" features a Tokyo performance from May 7th, 1989 on Disc One and supplements some soundboard "Empire" Demos on Disc Two...Oh yeah, and ending up kind of where we started...Sirene also released YES "In Japan" from Tokyo '73, look for a review here shortly...and UK "Philadelphia 1978 Pre-FM Master" is an upgraded version of an earlier title...Trial has released the 2CD "Songs Of Experience" which documents PATTI SMITH's Meltdown Show from Royal Albert Hall on June 26th that featured, amongst other luminaries, JEFF BECK...Power Gate DVD Masters has BLACK SABBATH "Bloody Download" available now and captures the bands' Donington, UK appearance at The Download Festival and finally from Power Gate CDR, IRON MAIDEN "Where Eagles Dare" is available on pro-CDR and boasts a stereo soundboard from Gothenberg, Sweden on July 9th, 2005.
