Thanksgiving Week Bootleg News Summary...
21 Nov 2005

Heading into Thanksgiving week here in the U.S. the November momentum seems to be keeping steady. It's the Bootleg News for November 21st, 2005 here at HotWacks On-line and DVD's dominate this week...

THE ROLLING STONES continue to be commanding the attention of the bootleg labels across the board. It's been awhile since we've heard from the Yugoslavian STONES label, Risk Disc, and they have emerged with their first DVD-Audio release on silver DVD..."Shine Or Rain Dallas Again" features both Dallas shows from October 31st and November 1st, 1981 from the soundboard and the set comes elaborately packaged in a unique fold-out, envelope type sleeve with a set of bonus photos that are apparently from the 2 Dallas events!...It will be interesting to learn the type of production Risk Disc has conceived for this first-time effort into the new format and I think it's absolutely fabulous. Kudos to the label for having the guts to give this format that Genuine Masters spearheaded, a shot. Risk Disc is a perfect label to adopt the unique DVD-Audio approach, combined with their superb and uniquely packaged goods and it would seem to be a winning combination, stay tuned for more on this. In other ROLLING STONES 1981 bootleg news, Dog N' Cat Records have finally got around to releasing "Tie Me Down Or Turn Me Loose", the San Francisco soundboard from October 17th, 1981 and is another very good show...Paddington has released an interesting STONES DVD called "L.A. '89", which features the band and guest, ERIC CLAPTON, from Memorial Coliseum in Los Angeles on October 19th, 1989 in pro-shot quality and is limited to 300 copies worldwide...jumping ahead to something more current, there is a brand new import DVD of generic label origin that features the STONES from Rentschler Field in Hartford on August 26th, 2005...it's another audience-shot source from The Bigger Bang Tour and is simply titled "Live In Hartford".

THE BLACK CROWES toured the U.S. for the past 7 months and though the new DVD from the Roadside Tragedy Label compiles older material, it looks absolutely stellar. "Non-Fiction Vol. 1" is a video collection that kicks off with 2 songs from the CROWES MTV Unplugged appearance on November 19th, 1990 and includes: David Letterman April 1990, MTV Interviews and concert footage from 1992 &
1993, their Glastonbury 1995 set, Jay Leno and David Letterman appearances from 2001 promoting "Lions" and rounds out with a segment of their Greek Theater show on May 15th, 2001 in pro-shot quality...New Release news out  Japan over the weekend, Beckdoor Music have a new BECK, BOGART & APPICE title called "To Love You More" and it features soundboard tracks from the American "In Concert" TV show from June 18th, 1973, audience tracks from the Imperial College of Printing in London on February 16th, 1973 and 5 tracks from the Paris Pop TV Show which was broadcasted on February 20th, 1973...New on the Destroyer Label comes THE STRAY CATS "Maybe Baby - Live In Tokyo 1981" 2CD set, which features their live show from Nakano Sun Plaza in Tokyo on September 18th, 1981 plus, part of their set from the previous evening at the same location on September 17th - both excellent audience sources. If you enjoy early EAGLES, the Zipperdeke Label has assembled the perfect DVD for you..."Burrito Blues On Carnaby" brings together the best of the early TV appearances in beautiful quality. The disc features the rare BBC Studios show from London on May 4th, 1973, with wonderful acoustic footage and tacks on the bonus footage from Don Kirshner's Rock Concert - U.S. TV Summer of 1974 that features duets with LINDA RONSTADT and JACKSON BROWNE, plus a rare video version of "Take It Easy" from New York City 1972.

New from The Godfather Records is SYSTEM OF A DOWN "You Depend On Our Protection", a single CD of soundboard sourced material featuring their 2005 appearance at London's Astoria on April 4th, compiling their "Saturday Night Live" U.S. TV appearance, Sydney on January 5th, 2005 and London October 19th, 2001 in a typically beautiful trifold digipack...Here is this weeks' BOB DYLAN bootleg update...Mainstream has 2 new "Rolling Thunder" period titles, "Night Of The Hurricane" is a 3CD set that features the December 8th, 1975 show from New York's Madison Square Garden on the first 2 discs, and the 3rd disc houses the Houston show from the Astrodome on Christmas Day 1976 which I believe is the first time this tape has surfaced on commercial bootleg -both are audience sources...also from Mainstream comes "One Of The Hurricane", a 2CD set of the December 4th, 1975 Montreal show from The Forum which is also seeing it's first commercial boot appearance, if I'm not mistaken, so these are 2 titles that would be of interest to collectors...New on the Thinman Label is "Shelter From The Storm", the partial tape from DYLAN's 1994 at Cracovia Stadium in Krakow, Poland on January the 17th...A couple of other new DVD's to point out include a cool looking import JIMI HENDRIX title called "Foxy Festivals" and compiles footage from the Atlanta Pop Festival on July 4th, 1970 and The Monterey Pop Festival on July 18th, 1967 in pro-shotquality.  AND...U2 "In The Capital Of Germany" captures their Vertigo Tour stop at Olmplastation in Berlin on July 7th, 2005.

That's the bootleg release summary for the week that was November 14th through the 20th, 2005.
