Looks like a flashback to 1965 this Post-Oscar week...Beatles vs. Stones...
27 Feb 2007

Let's call it an old-fashioned, Andrew Loog Oldham-type of orchestrated release "war" this week...it's the Bootleg News at HotWacks On-line.

First of all, sorry for the schedule disruption and getting this information posted this week...but a hearty welcome to you and thanks for swinging by to get caught up.  It is indeed a classic match-up so to speak this week with Japan attempting to ignite some sort of Beatlemania by revisiting an array of bootleg shows lately for re-release...and of course the never-ending pipeline of Stones too...on with the proceedings...

MisterClaudel announced this week that their next new BEATLES release will be "Live At Sam Houston Coliseum" 2CD which will contain both afternoon and evening shows from August 19, 1965 along with the opening acts for each...Strange Apple will issue the CD/DVD package "Far East And Far Out" that combines the Evening Show from June 30th and the Afternoon Show from July 1st, 1966 from The Budokan on CD, and a Dual-Layer DVD containing 2 versions of the June 30th Afternoon proshot video - VHS and Edit, along with 2 versions of the July 1st proshot video -On-Air and Film.  Keeping on the Fab trail...a handful of PAUL McCARTNEY releases announced over the weekend from Quarter Apple..."Driving Washington 2002" 2CD  is the soundboard from the MCI Center in Washington D.C on April 24, 2002..."Driving Atlanta" 2CD is the Philips Arena soundboard from May 13th, 2002..."Driving Tampa" is the May 15th, 2002 soundboard recording from the Ice Palace...and "Today Is Linda's Birthday" 2CD is a September 24th, 2002 soundboard from The United Center in Chicago.

On tap next from Dog N Cat Records are a trio of ROLLING STONES titles...the most interesting of which is a compilation of 60's TV appearances called "Animal Duds", the 2CD title doesn't really offer anything we don't have already but if the usual DAC standards are kept could be worthy of a collection refresh...it features the 1964 and 1965 New Musical Express Pollwinner's concerts, Ready Steady Go appearances, etc..."Alive In Seattle" 2CD is the July 18, 1975 audience recording from the Coliseum in Seattle, Washington - a very solid '75 Tour Of The Americas performance..."Wizards Of New York" 2CD is the June 25th, 1975 performance at Madison Square Garden.  Both of these latter titles are also featured as an 8CD "Tour Of The Americas '75" set from DAC, packaged with 2 previously released Vinyl Gang releases "Eric Clapton & His Rolling Stones" 2CD, the June 22nd MSG show audience source...and "Boston Tea Party" 2CD which is the June 12th Boston Garden audience tape.  SODD will be releasing the recently procured "Bigger Bang Early Mixes" CD and bonus DVD-R set...the video piece is the digital broadcast of the Buenos Aires concert on February 21st 2006...for more info on these interesting new ABB alternate mixes, go read Riccar99's review of "The Bigger Bang Outtakes" here on the site that was just posted.

Other news from around the globe...The final installment of Hollow Horn's BOB DYLAN Performing Artist Series is scheduled to be released in March, the 2CD set will house 2 1966 soundboard recordings...this is a clarification on the information I have been sharing up to this point as this set will only be 7 Volumes in the series, not 8 like the 2005 project...but like that early set, this March title will come with the very extensive booklet full of recording information on all seven sets to tie it up all nicely for those that have followed along and sought these out...like the others in the series the title is limited to 500 copies worldwide.  Wardour will release the ROBERT PLANT 2CD set, "Swedish Nirvana", a stereo soundboard from the Konserthuset in Stockholm on May 26, 1990...also from Wardour comes QUEEN "Firedance, an excellent audience tape on 2CD's recorded live at International Exhibition Hall in Nagoya, Japan on October 26, 1982...new BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN & THE SEEGER SESSIONS BAND titles from Crystal Cat are on the way..."Wembley Sessions First Night" 2CD contains the November 11, 2006 performance sourced from an audience tape - and "Wembley Sessions Second Night" 2CD contains the performance from the following evening on November 12th...in glorious Crystal Cat presentations too!

That's the greatest of the latest, at least in terms of silver disc bootleg releases.  We'll keep you updated as time moves along and the best way to keep up is to hit the homepage and the News Ticker.  Then of course right here every week for a summation of the weeks' happenings.  Have a good one and I'll see ya back here next Monday - I promise!
