It's hardly "March Madness" but it's some fairly insane boot news...
12 Mar 2007

...Ok, maybe the news isn't that insane but how about the 3 cover approach taken by the Tarantura Label with their latest LED ZEPPELIN 6CD title, "The Witch Queen"?!!!...each version is limited to 40 copies each and by the time you read this you probably wouldn't have the luxury of choice between the "Jimmy Page", "Pan & Nymph" or "St. Michael" covers anyway (see below) - even if you could find a vendor who had one to sell you...the 6CD set features the May 14th, 1973 New Orleans recordings > soundboard with audience filler, and audience tape with soundboard filler....Other releases coming from the label include ERIC CLAPTON "A Legend In His Own Time" which contains his July 31, 1974 concert recording from New Orleans as well...and KING CRIMSON "Going To California" taped at The Berkeley Community Center on June 13, 1973.

...in other LED ZEPPELIN news...it appears that the Japanese Condor Label's "Unstoppable Metal Machine" DVD could be shipping out as early as March 16th, and the latest information on the title shows that the encore of "Communication Breakdown" is at least partially included on this 'almost complete' proshot video from the May 25, 1975 Earl's Court concert...the buzz on this is certainly picking up and we all hope it lives up to the self-imposed hype of the collecting community...on a related note, a DVD title that kind of got glossed over with the beginning of the new year is Empress Valley's JIMMY PAGE & ROBERT PLANT "Unledded Sessions - Day One" Collector's Edition.  For whatever reason it's surfaced in the States this week and I felt it deserved another mention since it is supposed to be of primo quality and features the August 26th, 1994 day of shooting for the MTV Special that was "Un-Ledded" - uncut with all the tunings and song intros cut from the official video...and the bonus footage is from a rare charity gig performed at Cafe De Paris in London on December 7th, 1997 which features a rare performance of "Over The Hills & Far Away".   One other noteworthy DVD title announced this week is "RockShow Complete" from MisterClaudel that boasts a pristine print of the officially released (on laserdisc and betamax anyway!) PAUL McCARTNEY & WINGS 1976 "Wings Over America" Tour film.

The latest release news out of Japan...Sirene continues the blanket PINK FLOYD coverage with two new titles, "Corrosion" 2CD which will contain an upgraded audience tape from Ernst-Merck Halle in Hamburg, Germany on November 14, 1970..."Dark Age" 2CD features the excellent Hollywood, Florida recording at The Sporatorium on June 28, 1973, capturing the wonderful lead-in tunes of "Obscured By Clouds/When You're In.."  There's another new silver CD release this week listed from the Zipperman Label, this time the artists are SANTANA & JOHN McLAUGHLIN, "Devadip" is the name of the single disc and it presents a soundboard from the Berkeley Community Center on September 5, 1973.

A couple of  ELVIS PRESLEY titles to bring you up to speed on...first off is "Autumn Revival" from Memory Records that brings a previously unreleased 1976 recording to the table...this is from the October part of the '76 Fall Tour at a stop at the University of Illinois in Champaign, in front of 17,000 strong and is produced from a 2nd Generation audience tape...The Audionics Label is getting ready to unveil it's next   soundboard compilation this month called, ""Across The Country Vol. 2", featuring 4 different soundboard fragments from the 1975-1977 era:  The May 31st, 1975 Huntsville, Alabama 8:30 show, The Sweet Inspirations pre-program performance in Minneapolis on October 17, 1976, Johnson City on March 17, 1976 and the February 15, 1977 Orlando concert - the deluxe set comes complete with extensive liner notes, 16-page booklet featuring a photo collection from the performances featured here and much more.

That's the latest from my desk and I appreciate you stopping by to check in. We have many reviews to post this week so keep checking back for the latest announcements on the News Ticker as well as new reviews on some of the latest titles in circulation.  Keep emailing me with questions or simply post one here, either approach works.  Have a great week and I'll meet you back here next Monday night.
