A spotlight on Bob Dylan's Theme Time Radio Shows...
23 Apr 2007

When BOB DYLAN's XM Satellite Radio Show debuted early last year, it was instant magic.  Fans, critics and fellow artists were in complete agreement...Bob found a new niche as a Radio Host.  It was only a matter of time that the underground seized the opportunity to wrap up the proceedings in bootleg fashion.  Franny Records out of Japan actually started their first in a series of six-disc sets last fall on CDR, titled "Bob Dylan's Theme Time Radio Hour".  The shows are indeed themed, with titles such as "Father", "Mother", "Wedding", "Divorce", "Jail", etc. and run about 55 minutes each.  What is cool is that it's Bob at the mike, drawing on his vast history of music and influences and weaving stories and anecdotes into the proceedings.  From the obscure to the famous and familiar, it's all fair game and a fabulous listen if you get the chance.  Those that don't subscribe to satellite radio or if you're just a fan or curious collector, these shows are an excellent acquisition.  Just coming into wider circulation in Europe are 2 brand new 10 CD Box Sets, "...with your host Bob Dylan - Theme Time Radio Hour" Volumes 1 & 2.  The issuing label is still a bit of a mystery from where I sit, if anyone has any information on who is putting this series to silver disc please post a note below.  While these boxes compile the first 20 radio shows, it certainly appears this is an on-going series.
