SODD titles, Label News and Invitation to HW Forums...
27 Aug 2007

Hello everyone and welcome to the very last Bootleg News Column for Summer of 2007.  First of all, I want to make sure everyone is aware of the brand new Forums page here at HotWacks On-line.  It's been brewing for the past couple of months and want to thank our site tech, Mitch, for the great job bringing my vision to fruition once again.  It is your place to network with the HotWacks membership so please take advantage of the many different collectors that pass-through these pages and initiate some bootleg banter.  If you haven't had a chance to visit Forums yet, please stop by and register yourself and start your discussions on whatever suits your fancy.  Remember there are some basic rules and we ask that you use some common sense when making a post.  As with any message board situation, we expect a certain degree of non-sense but hope to keep it to a minimum and make this a worth-while and fun experience for all.  Thanks for your participation and diligence in advance...on with the thin bit of news for the week that was....

Rainbow Heavy Struck Rising Arrow LabelMick Ronson Ronno Plays Guitar RMR LabelThe Beatles & The Quarrymen Turn The Mixers Off 1957-1962 Savage Records Label

Just announced out of Japan today is the latest RAINBOW title from Rising Arrow called, "Heavy Struck", a 2CD set that presents an excellent audience source tape from the December 8, 1976 Osaka performance at Koseinenkin Kaikan and of course features RITCHIE BLACKMORE's original line-up of: RONNIE JAMES DIO, COZY POWELL, JIMMY BAIN and TONY CAREY...another new title just about ready to hit the market is MICK RONSON "Ronno Plays Guitar" 1CD utilizing a fair audience recording from the Birmingham Town Hall, Birmingham, UK on February 23, 1974 where he was out promoting the LP Slaughter On 10th Avenue and is backed up by former SPIDERS FROM MARS mates TREVOR BOLDER on Bass and Mike Garson on Keyboards amongst the line-up...the title also comes with a bonus CDR that features a fragment of a recording from Sheffield, England on March 20th, 1975 and is released on the RMR Label...There is also an interesting BEATLES/QUARRYMEN double-CDR release coming from Savage Records called "Turn The Mixers Off 1957-1962", and really seems to warrant a silver disc edition to me but in this case it's CDR only and limited to 100 copies in a very cool mini-LP sleeve that deserves mention here just for that! (see above)...

Rolling Stones Southern Bang In El Ejido SODD LabelRolling Stones Biggest Ever Bang In Madrid SODD Label

In ROLLING STONES boot release news the SODD Label has issued two new titles..."Southern Bang In El Ejido" 2CD contains the June 30th, 2007 concert at Estadio de Santo Domingo in El Ejido, Spain as the main feature but the first 100 sets also contain the June 21st show from Barcelona on 2CDRs in audience quality as well..."Biggest Ever Bang In Madrid" 2CD features the show from Estadio Vicente Calderon on June 28th from the audience and the bonus 2CDR that contains the June 23rd show from San Sebastian, Spain in the first hundred copies.  LED ZEPPELIN collector's snapped up both editions of Tarantura's latest offering, "No Use Gneco" 2CD as fast as they were unpacked...the first edition was a limited run of 75 copies, 2nd edition only 55 copies and of course features the October 3rd, 1972 Budokan show in good-very good audience quality...also noteworthy is the fact that Nasty Music has issued a 2CD version of "The Great Lost Live Album" which simply contains the Southampton Mult Track Stereo Soundboard from January 22, 1973...in a very nice Fatboy Jewelcase presentation...

...their first edition was a 3CD package that included the soundcheck soundboard fragment from Old Refectory along with the January 18th soundboard fragment from Bradford, UK.

And finally some Underground Label news...Hello Goodbye, it seems...look for the new DVD Label, Lost In The Vaults Until Now which will provide video nuggets from LOUIS ARMSTRONG to SLAYER to THE EAGLES, etc...so we look forward to seeing the goods from them very soon.  And it may not come as much of a surprise to most but now you can consider it official...Blackdog at Genuine Masters has let the records show that the label formally ceased production and will not issue any more titles.  This is very disappointing as they have brought out the best in many LED ZEPPELIN recordings over the past 3 years (not to mention a few one-offs from AC/DC, DAVID BOWIE and THE ROLLING STONES) and served them in the most unique ways via the DVD-Audio/Hybrid DVD-Audio medium which provided much discussion and enjoyment for the Zeppelin collecting community.  Though the label will continue selling off what stock is left, the run has officially reached an end and all thats left to say is Thanks!  Good on ya boys, stellar job.

And thank you for stopping by too!  Please remember you now have Forums to take advantage of with your visits to hotwacks.com...for those in the States have a great final Summer blast this coming Labor Day Weekend...and NOTICE:  There will be NO Bootleg News column next Monday due to the Labor Day holiday.  This column will resume September 10th.
