November 7th releases from The Godfather, New Dylan and Boston...
29 Oct 2007

As the trend has been lately, news talk has been quiet during the course of the week and over the weekend, the bulk of the activity comes across...This week, we get the press releases for the November 7th titles to be issued by The Godfather Records and its' family of labels.  It's a nice balance and mix of material from GFR and Co. this time around too...titles coming from GFR next week include the first Magic Tour commercial silver disc bootleg from BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN & THE E STREET BAND... "A Reason To Begin Again" 2CD will feature the excellent audience recording from earlier this month at The Wachovia Center in Philadelphia on October 6th with bonus tracks from East Rutherford, NJ on the 9th & 10th at Continental Airlines Arena - with a 4 page color booklet (shown above)...A ROLLING STONES flashback compilation is on the way as well, "Tour Of Europe '76 Revisited" 2CD will feature the Paris soundboard from Les Abbatoirs, Paris Pavilion on June 4th, 1976 and will supplement the complete tour setlist by compiling "Cherry Oh Baby" from the June 7th Paris soundboard, "All Down The Line" from Frankfurt on April 29th, "Sympathy For The Devil" from the May 23rd Earl's Court show in London and also features a nice chunk of rarities performed at the infamous Knebworth event on August 21st...the set comes with a 4 page color booklet (pictured above) as well as a mini replica tour poster...QUEEN "As It Began - The BBC Archives" 2CD also comes with a 4 page booklet and assembles a fabulous compilation of the early-QUEEN material professionally recorded and sourced from what GFR is claiming are the master reels...the set combines the July 25th, 1973  Langham sessions and September 13th 1973 concert at Golders Green for BBC Radio - the March 13th, 1974 Rainbow concert, the April 3rd, 1974 Langham session and October 16 '74 and October 10, 1977 Maida Vale sessions, plus the September 1971 QUEEN demo tapes from De Lane Lea Studios in London as bonus tracks...also coming November 7th from A GoodFellas Production is the TOM WAITS title, "On The Radio" 1CD...a soundboard from Media Sound Studios in New York City on December 16, 1974 in a deluxe trifold slipcase package...

...From Apocalypse Sound DVD next week...BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN "Is There Anybody Alive?" which is an early Magic Tour TV Broadcast compilation that contains the complete, edited, Today Show appearance on NBC-TV on September 28th, the VH-1 Classic broadcast of the East Rutherford 3 opening tunes on October 10th, the 60 Minutes interview from CBS-TV which I believe was on October 8th...then the label throws in some non-related bonus tracks that include "Johnny 99" filmed at Giants Stadium on August 19, 1985 and "Growin' Up" from the L.A. Coliseum on October 2nd, 1985...THE BEATLES "Anthology Companion" DVD assembles all the promo clips "in every incarnation", 70 of them to be exact, from "Some Other Guy" circa 1962 to "Come Together" packed on Dual-Layer DVD-9 disc...THE POLICE "The Best Of What's Still Around" contains the bands' 4-song Live Earth performance from Giants Stadium on July 7th, 2007, the March 10, 2003 Hall Of Fame Induction proceedings/performance, and the February 19, 1982 proshot show from Vina Del Mar, Chile - all are TV Broadcasts...THE WHITE STRIPES "A Story To Tell" is also a TV compilation DVD that pairs their July 7, 2007 Paris show at Studio Canal and Rock Am Ring appearance in Eiffel, Germany on June 1st, 2007...

Boston Critically And Commercially Rockmasters Label

...In other release news...also announced today is yet another generic or no label silver disc set out of Japan from BOB DYLAN and is called "Another Side Of Budokan" 6CD that assembles 3 very nice audience tapes from The Budokan on March 2nd, 3rd and 4th, 1978 in a Limited Edition run of only 100 copies...Rockmasters has issued the BOSTON title, "Critically And Commercially" 2CD that utilizes the King Biscuit Flower Hour tapes of their early and late shows from Long Beach Arena on March 16, 1977...A teaser from Masters Of Beatles Essentials identifies their next packages as a 5CD/2DVD set called "Beatles At Abbey Road Vol. 1 and Vol. 2" with the DVD material sourced from the 1983 program of the same name and the multi-disc focus on studio outtakes..finally, Tarantura's next couple of classic recording packages are going to be THE ROLLING STONES "Sympathy For The God" 2CD which will evidently utilize a new source of their June 22nd, 1975 concert at Madison Square Garden with a guest appearance by ERIC CLAPTON...also on the slate for November is YES "Relay Of Keyboardman" 2CD will document their Louisiana State University appearance from Baton Rouge on March 16, 1977 in excellent audience quality (Mr. Freezer???) - both titles coming in Limited Cardboard Gatefold Sleeve Editions.

That's all for this week!  Always keep your mouse a click away from the News Ticker and check back througout the week as I have reviews to fill in on some of those crazy multi-disc sets and other great stuff.  Have a great week.
