December Godfather Titles, New Crystal Cats this week...
27 Nov 2007

The Crystal Cat Label seems to have completely embraced the new SPRINGSTEEN Magic Tour and is hitting a stride with various new sources and production that includes interesting alternate fare along the way. The latest batch of BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN & THE E STREET BAND titles include..."New York City Magic First Night" 2CD featuring the October 17th show at Madison Square Garden, and "New York City Magic Second Night" 2CD which contains the October 18th, 2007 concert..."Cleveland Magic Night" 2CD brings us the November 4th performance at Quicken Loans Arena and the label also has plans for issuing their version of the Auburn Hills, Michigan recording which is popping up all over the place (see the Godfather Records title below)...also from CCat this week is THE POLICE "At The Globe" 2CD set which not only presents the Stockholm show at The Globe Arena on August 30th, but includes a bonus disc featuring the June 22nd, 1979 FM Broadcast from The Paradiso to fuel further collectability and interest to the release...A couple of classic, Generic Silver Disc titles featured today with the release news out of Japan...AEROSMITH "Central Park '75 Master" presents the superb pre-FM source of the August 29, 1975 show from New York on CD with an added bonus DVD-R  of their Robin Hood Foundation appearance in New York on May 4, 2007 and is described as "perfect quality" proshot...the other generic release is ROD STEWART "British Blondes" 2CD which offers up a nice presentation of his excellent December 21st, 1978 show at The Olympia in London (not to be mixed up with the very common Christmas '76 broadcast from the same venue or even the Manchester '78 King Biscuit show)..this is also a stereo soundboard and appears to be completejust...fyi, Trial has also issued a great STEWART stereo soundboard show called "British Behavior" 2CDR of his December 5th, 1980 concert at Wembley Arena this is also a stereo soundboard and appears to be complete...Picadilly Circus have the new PAUL McCARTNEY DVD, "Complete L'Olympia Paris 2007", on the December release calendar and it is a proshot production of his October 22nd Paris gig...

...Wendy Records is readying their next LED ZEPPELIN title for early December.  "Moral Reader" 2CD capitalizes on the really clean, low generation tape of the October 4th, 1972 concert in Osaka, Japan that was shared over the internet this Fall and is actually said to be combining sources which doesn't seem necessary but either way, a fantastic recording and super solid performance by the band...The Godfather Records is staying regular and has yet another new batch of titles coming to market December 2nd...NEIL YOUNG "The Neverending Dream" 2CD gives us his Opening Night show in Boise, Idaho at The Velma Morrison Center on October 18th in excellent audience quality and presented in the patented GFR trifold cardboard sleeve...PRINCE "London Planet Earth" 2CD capitalizes on another excellent audience tape, this show was performed September 13th at the 02 Arena in London with bonus tracks recorded at his September 9th aftershow performance at Indigo2 in London...also in this next round is MARK KNOPFLER & EMMYLOU HARRIS "Making History" 1CD which leverages a stereo soundboard tape from their June 3rd, 2006 concert in Verona, Italy and gets the GFR deluxe sleeve presentation as well...and as I mentioned above, BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN & THE E STREET BAND "It's Boss Time!" 2CD covers the excellent audience recording from The Palace At Auburn Hills, Michigan on November 5th with bonus tracks from that November 4th show in Cleveland and October 14th show in Ottawa with ARCADE FIRE...On a related note, there are two new DVD's from Apocalypse Sound also slated for December 2nd release, MICHAEL JACKSON "This is History" which compiles a nice collection of TV Broadcast appearances from 1984-1996 and TOTO "All Us Boys - The Early Live Years" pairs up a couple of proshot performances/TV Broadcasts from The Agora Ballroom in Cleveland on February 2nd, 1979 and during the Hydra Tour at Shinjinku, Tokyo, Japan at Koseinenkin Kaikan on March 12, 1980...

And, we can't forget the latest in BEATLES & THE STONES release news for the week...Masters Of Beatles Essentials (MBE) will issue a pair of sets shortly, "At Abbey Road Show Vol. 1" is a DVD of the 1983 BBC Abbey Road Show production plus a 2CD set of "working monitor mixes" from Abbey Road Studios while "At Abbey Road Show Vol. 2" is a 3CD set of "monitor mix playbacks" compilation...The SODD Label continues their string of ROLLING STONES re-issues with a couple of interesting choices - I can never figure out what the rationale is for decisions made on this stuff - look for "Live At Empire Pool, Wembley, London '73. 9.8 First Show" 1CD with limited bonus disc of the September 9th, 1973 show with the first 200 copies...the same schema and format goes for "Live At Coliseum, Charlotte, North Carolina '72.7.6" with bonus disc of the Long Beach Arena concert in good audience quality from June 10, 1972...On a final note I received encouraging information from the Aurora Borealis Label earlier today confirming that production has resumed on the balance of the much anticipated CSNY Box Set but no firm release date is playing into the info just yet, at the very least it'll be 1st Quarter 2008 from the indicators I'm getting thus far but, stay tuned on that one...

Thanks for stopping in to catch up and have yourself a wonderful week!
