Pink Floyd Mothers Secrets (front) Rover Records Label Pink Floyd Mothers Secrets (back) Rover Records Label

...Arriving in time to lead the Summer finale of releases is PINK FLOYD "Mothers Secrets" 1CD from Rover Records (pictured above & below)...In a capsule, this is 56 minutes of stereo soundboard outtake recordings from the two performances that were featured as part of the live half of the 2LP set, Ummagumma - the May 2nd, 1969 Manchester College of Commerce and April 27, 1969 Birmingham Mother's.  The release which is already in the can and apparently staged for distribution, could hit the streets by the end of the week...

Bad Company Newcastle 1974 Wardour Label  Bad Company Unplugged Company Wardour Label (bonus CDR w/Newcastle 1974)

...Hot off the underground wire today, Wardour will issue a nice pair of BAD COMPANY recordings..."Newcastle 1974" 1CD + bonus CDR "Unplugged Company".  Both stereo soundboards are re-issues but offer the chance for collectors who missed out on the original Gypsy Eye release of the March 8, 1974 Newcastle Town Hall show on silver disc - to my knowledge, the 1999 reunion acoustic performance by the original line-up at Cleveland's R&R Hall of Fame Museum has never been available on silver disc and Wardour missed an opportunity to do just that with this latest offering, in my opinion anyway...why not just make a 2CD silver set in nice packaging?  On the way next from Beano is the ERIC CLAPTON title, "Irvine Crossing" 2CD which documents his September 23rd, 1988 concert at the Irvine Meadows venue in Laguna Hills, California via excellent audience master recording...If you tend to fall for the harder edge of the spectrum, Langley Deluxe will issue the ACCEPT release, "War Commander" 1CD which presents another audience master -this one from the Mayfair Ballroom in Newcastle, UK on April 11, 1986...

Miles Davis Les Prelude Hannibal Label     The Rolling Stones Live In Helsinki 1970 Dog N Cat Records Label

...An assorted batch of other releases that are new to the table this week.  Pictured above from the Hannibal Label is the MILES DAVIS title, "Les Prelude" CD/DVD package that presents a stereo soundboard of a November 3, 1973 performance at Stadthalle in Vienna, Austria paired with a digitally remastered DVD for 2009 of a proshot video from the November 1st, 1973 concert in Berlin at the Philharmonie and runs about 46 minutes...Dog N Cat Records new ROLLING STONES offering is another previously available set of tapes...titled "Live In Helsinki 1970", the single disc pairs recordings of the Septemer 2, 1970 performance at Olympia Stadion along with the Malmo, Sweden audience tape from August 30th, 1970...unfortunately nothing new on this front at face value and frankly looks like a direct copy of the original VGP release...Finally, there is always something Fab-related and this week it's a couple of new silver boots that capitalize on PAUL McCARTNEY's recent New York City performances..."Rock The Citi Field" 2CD comes from Picadilly Circus and documents his July 18th concert at the new Mets ballpark while "Roll The Citi Field" 2CD presents the July 21st show at the same venue...and, I think I missed this one last week but Misterclaudel has issued the Macca title "Complete Rooftop Concert 2009" 1CD audience/soundboard documentation of his July 15th set at the Marquee of the Ed Sullivan Theater in NYC as part of a David Letterman TV show taping...Look for the JOHN LENNON title "At Dakota" out now on the Monkey Clown Label which is a CD/DVD-R package...

...That's what has come to the desk from the underground currents this week, and we await with baited breath for what will hopefully be some statement releases from some of the premium boot labels yet this month as the Summer of '09 comes to a close.  Time sure flies when you're (suppose to be) having fun!...Thanks for swinging in and have yourself a great week!
