A few more things to talk about this week!
02 Feb 2010

...A meatier portion this week or, very 'eavy and very 'umble...right. Speaking of heavy, LED ZEPPELIN are featured heavily in the mix as Tarantura has apparently released a 2CD cardboard sleeve version of the excellent Montreux Casino 'PA" recording of the August 7th, 1971 show in Switzerland, simply titled "Casino"...also new from Tarantura is RAINBOW "Ave Maria" 2CD featuring a December 14, 1976 audience tape from the Hiroshima-shi Auditorium in Hiroshima, Japan -also a limited cardboard sleeve edition...more ZEP...

Led Zeppelin A Work In Progress 2DVD No Label

...Normally I'm not keen on the labels leveraging others labels' work but the exception is when the work is lifted from recordable media and given a silver disc treatment. Fortunately, that is what has occurred with the recent LED ZEPPELIN "A Work In Progress" 2DVD via a non-label production (pictured above). They've taken the really superb Cosmic Energy production and transferred it, a worthy cause. It is a wonderful editing treat as we are presented with the full December 10, 2007 reunion show from 15 different audience shot sources. Well done and thanks to those responsible for getting this transferred. Also from the ZEPPELIN corner we have a numbered, limited edition (50 numbered copies) of "One Night Stand In Paris" 2CD from TCOLZ which pairs the pre-FM source with the FM broadcast version of the October 10, 1969 L'Olympia show...One other Non-Label ZEP title announced this week is "Live In Charlotte 1972" 2CD that repurposes a great audience tape from the Charlotte Coliseum on June 9, 1972, and I'm hoping this one is perhaps an upgrade to previous efforts...

...It seems that no label is the way to go recently, just press and package and don't stop to brand. Fine by me. Especially when you are getting product like BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN & THE E STREET BAND "Vintage Broadcast '75" 2CD (below)...it features the outstanding broadcast/soundboard from their now legendary August 15, 1975 performance at New York's Bottom Line...really sweet stuff....

...There's a new BEATLES release on the way, courtesy of the Japanese Monkey Clown Label and is called "Eight Arms To Hold You: Beatles 2" 1CD of 'HELP!' era outtakes or alternates circa 1965 with a 1987 Japanese version of the HELP! film...From the Heathcliff Label comes KATE BUSH "Paris Affair 1979" 1CD of her show at Theater Des Champs Elysees Paris on May 6, 1979...OASIS "Who Breaks A Butterfly Upon A Wheel?" is a new 2CD set on the Whiteleys Label and captures their August 22, 2009 V Festival performance via stereo soundboard - this is also the final show of their Dig Out Your Soul Tour, the release also includes some bonus tracks...The SEX PISTOLS "Flogging A Dead Punk" is a 1CD/DVD-R compilation of rare material on the God Save Label which gathers together a nice set of demos, alternates and live tracks...the video material is comprised of November 16, 1996 concert footage in Japan at Nippon Budokan and July 21, 1996 Phoenix Festival in England...

The Rolling Stones Get Yer Ya Ya's In SODD Label  The Rolling Stones Voodoo Early SODD Label

...More new ROLLING STONES to report this week (in addition to the 2 SODD titles above that Riccar99 posted details about, see last weeks column comments)...Dog N Cat Records have announced "Some Satanic Tour Vol. 2" 2CD compiling audience tpaes from Phoenix, Arizona on November 11, 1969, Altamont on December 6, 1969 and Detroit on November 24, 1969...and that concludes the tidbits for this weeks' edition.  Thanks for stopping in and have yourself a great week! We're into February now and it's a step closer to Spring...
