...Miracle Man supplies the source tape for JEFF BECK "Drops From My Fingers" 2CD from Calm & Storm...the audience recording is from Century Hall in Nagoya, Japan on July 11, 2005...and, from Wardour comes "Illinois Hurricane" 1CD containing BECK'S show at the World Music Theater in Tinley Park, Illinois on August 24, 1995 and is another excellent audience tape...early copies come with the bonus DVD-R "Standalone", a 65-minute audience shot video from the Sandstone Amphitheater in Kansas City on August 28, 1995...
...Arriving through the pipeline via non-label association is the new FREE "Korakuen 1972" 1CD which revisits the excellent audience recording from Tokyo (Korakuen Stadium) on July 22, 1972...the initial numbered/stickered editions of this come with the bonus DVD-R "Rock Explosion 1972" which runs around 26 minutes of proshot/broadcast sourced video - and bonus CDR "The Paul Rodgers Story"...
...Two new ROLLING STONES silver disc releases from what appears to be another new label (?) Sweet Records...Anyway, their credibility is already shot with me on the first one here, "Fuel For Life" 2CD which is a really superb audience master source of their September 6, 2005 concert in St. Paul, MINNESOTA!...not Michigan you twits...The other title, below, is "Pour Some Brown Sugar" 2CD and delivers the August 27, 2006 concert at Don Valley Stadium in Sheffield, UK - ALSO a tremendous audience recording...
...We wrap this weeks' column with a release I completely disagree with, "12-12-12 The Concert For Sandy Relief" 3CD audience master recordings also a non-label product. This is just wrong as this is still a current emergency relief effort in progress. Don't fucking take advantage of a disaster like this when it's so fresh. It would be different if it was The Concert for Bangladesh or something - not a recent tragedy. Poor taste in my humble opinion!
