REVIEW: |
This
release is not a bootleg, but an official release that is available to be
downloaded as mp3 or flac, according to which platform you decide to use
between D.Adler own site (https://dannyadler.bandcamp.com/album/de-luxe-blues-band-1983)
and Amazon (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B083XLKZB5/ref=ap_ws_tlw_alb3).
However since it is
not well known and
since there so few releases offering unheard tracks featuring Ian Stewart these
days I thought better to review it anyway just to spread the word about it.
In 1983, Ian Stu Stewart who
was the mastermind behind the Rocket 88 band and the the De Luxe Blues Band,
not to mention the Rolling Stones, decided once again to produce another album
for the De Luxe Blues Band. He had previously produced the De Luxe second of
their 8 albums (A Street Car Named De Luxe, 1981 DA Legacy 16). However, on
this occasion he opted to turbo charge the original format by bringing in
Charlie Watts on drums and Boogie Woogie maestro George Green and of course,
Stu made his own very wonderful piano contributions to several songs (The
Stumble etc).
On a January afternoon in 1983, everyone assembled at the Shepperton Film
Studios sound stage. By about 10 PM that evening, they had not only finished a
complete album (De Luxe Blues Band 1983, DA Legacy 17) but also recorded these
wonderful previously unissued songs and alternate takes that you see before you
now. Let the feast begin. This has been released on January 8, 2020. Credits
are:
Produced by Ian Stu Stewart, Danny Adler - Guitar and lead vocals, Ian Stu
Stewart – Piano, Bob Hall - Piano, George Green – Piano, Bob Brunning – Bass, Charlie
Watts – Drums. The music offered is exceptional especially if you love blues
rock with piano sparks, packaging is instead minimal, just showing a b&w photo
of Danny Adler and Charlie Watts on front cover and no back cover at all.
