A particularly inspired show from the old men of the rock 'n' roll sea, and a better-than-average ALD recording as well, with only a few dropouts that I could detect. (I tend to be pretty critical about ALDs unless they've had some postproduction tweaking, but this has a nice even mix; while the vocals dominate the instruments, a bit of equalizer fiddling brings all the frequencies into focus.) The shows on this tour didn't vary wildly, so this is pretty representative of the CNSY2K tour in general. A few interesting moments included one of the best versions of "Down By The River" I've ever heard, and a dedication of "Guinnevere" to Peter Fonda, who was apparently in the crowd. One downer: "For What It's Worth" sounded somewhat perfunctory, with Stills himself seeming slightly weary. That aside, a solid set.
Vague's packaging is rarely anything to write home about, but the artwork here is nicely designed with some classy B&W photos (current) on the front panel, more photos on the insides of the two panels and a clever color caricature of the gentlemen on the back panel. No booklet. -- OSWALD
