REVIEW:

This release from the Faces presents the band’s recordings for the BBC, but due to the officially announced Rhino 9 discs box set is probably the last one from bootleg labels. This is in fact basically a copy of the collection posted on UIRR and then reworked by Cpt Acid as BBC Collection (AP096) where he did phase and level correction as well as new EQ; also used was Spectral Repair on some files, skipped here the Marquee Club concert from December 70. Differently from the Cpt Acid compilation there is not Away In A Manger a tune Rod Stewart sung On Top Gear in December 70 alone without the rest of the band. On Love in Vain from the John Peel’s Concert Rod Stewart dedicates the song to Mick “who is no longer one of us”, having married Bianca the previous day with Ron Wood, Ronnie Lane and Kenney Jones in attendance. This is an excellent release, it will be hard to improve it, the only possible way would be to present all stereo recordings.

The best toys are the ones that are both educational and multi-purposeful.
