The Faces
stop at Bill Graham’s Fillmore West was a bit surprising since we have seen
that before Ron Wood had turned down Bill Graham calling him ‘not the fairest
businessman they ever met’ stating he was one of the people the band could do
without in the States; however, this show has been the subject of many bootleg
albums so far starting with Fillmore West 1970 (OHC-004) which was limited to
100 numbered copies offered a mono audience source, then Fillmore West 1970 Off
Masters (IMP-N 021) presented a recording that had bass and drums upfront, A
RnR Party with the Faces (HiWatt DeepSix 42 A/B) was housed in a splendid
digipack, Marvelous! (Historical Pirates 010-11) was a 2 cdr set, then Growing
Up Fast (WLR- GBA 70) long digipack offered a stereo audience recording on disc
3 and 4. This version seems to come from a 2 cdr set which was the copy of An
Evening with Small Faces and Rod Stewart a Maxell UD cassette that had the
original master recording. This is a brilliant performance very well recorded and
packed in this nice digipack.
