REVIEW: |
This release presents the album Coast to Coast by the Faces including
Losing You, just like broadcasted by DIR on 30 December 1973 (Losing You was
not on the Coast to Coast album but on the cassette and 8 Track versions);
unfortunately, the title is misleading as well as the information provided in
the booklet:
“For connoisseurs this set list is largely mirrored in the live sets
performed at the Anaheim Center and Hollywood Palladium on the same tour with
both performances making up the Coast to Coast-Overtures and Beginners album in
1973…This recording was captured and broadcasted by San Francisco KMPX-FM
station”. Let’s see:
First of all, the concerts Coast to Coast album was taken from happened
in 1973 and not in 1972, so not on the same tour of Oakland; the Faces Oakland
performance recording is not circulating, so by choosing this title this label
probably hoped to fool some collector, however it must be also noted that KMPX
radio was specialised in 1920-1950 jazz music, while the station that
broadcasted this concert was KBFH even before the album release. Packaging is
very nice but it is not possible to rate it highly due to the misleading title
and information.
