REVIEW:

This release presents recordings from the Faces 1970 Vancouver gig, from the Strawberry Mountain Pop Festival; among the other acts there were Albert Collins, Big Brother and Country Joe & The Fish. This recording is in soundboard quality, it already came out on cd on Strawberry Pop (Hiwatt HW 7071) coupled with Santa Monica 71 audience recording.

Packaging is superb, the coloured vinyl platter is housed in a nice glossy cover and there is an insert that features an essay written on Music Now from August  15th, 1970 where the writer states a conversation had one subby lunchtime with guitar player Ron Wood that mentioned the band was writing material for their second album and already planning another visit to the States in November; surprisingly Ron Wood turned down Bill Graham calling him ‘not the fairest businessman they ever met’ stating he was one of the people the band could do without in the States. Then Kenny Jones joins explaining the band’s progress in recording techniques. The music itself is excellent, being a soundboard, but Three Buttons Hand Me Down and Devotion both fade out.

The best toys are the ones that are both educational and multi-purposeful.
Great Toys For Tots
