An exquisite effort from Cat's Meow to source this concert video that was only available, in limited quantity, on Japanese Laserdisc in the late 70's! It is a fully produced home video release that hasn't been in circulation for a very long time. The cover boasts "16 of their best hits" but actually, there are only 8 tracks. Ahh, it's a bootleg! Anyway, a superb document from their Shinin' On Tour 1974 capturing Mark, Don, Mel & Craig at the top of their game.
This is a completely digital transfer from Laserdisc and is absolutely perfect. It actually looks like it was produced today! The color and quality is beyond words. This IS a must-have for fans of 70's American Rock N' Roll. The image of the band is certainly a dated one but, c'mon...that's the way it was. I'll take this over ANYTHING out there performing currently. At least it was honest, ballsy Rock N' Roll!
Stunning visually. Sonically, a treat. The performance is slick and professional. If you could put this in an upgraded package, it would be complete. It deserves a better wrap but Cat's Meow offers simplistic offerings and it isn't horrible.
You have to see this one. A REAL blast from the past.
