REVIEW:

This title was released in Europe before the Bangladesh film was officially released on DVD in October, 2005.  The content of the film, capturing the second of the two Bangladesh concerts in Madison Square Garden on August 1st, 1971, is identical to the official release in lesser quality.  The track listing on the back lists Bob Dylan performing "Mr. Tambourine Man" leading some (including me) to think this was the unedited evening show.  Unfortunately that is not the case since the song appears only on the back cover and not in the actual film.

The bonus track is Harrison's appearance on "The Dick Cavett Show" on November 23rd, 1971.  The manufacturers of this disc obtained someone's dub of the show from VH1's "Archives" series complete with John Fugelsang's intoductions.  This also has been officially released on The Dick Cavett Show - Rock Icons a three disc set released in August.  And that doesn't have the VH1 logo in the corner or the commercial breaks (thankfully omitted on this release).

The Concert For Bangledesh is an amazing concert all around I would recommend anyone to buy the officially two disc set.  The sound is great and the picture as good as it will ever be.  Plus the extras on disc two are very interesting as well.  And the three disc Dick Cavett set also looks like a worth while purchase if you can stand his enormous ego (he's always tempting Harrison to say how great he is).  There is a need though for great audio and video documentation for the unedited concerts.  The Zeus label released a three disc set several years ago with the audience recordings in fair to good quality.  This release has been made redundant and should be avoided.
