REVIEW:

A no-frills tape to disc dub of what appears to be a Japanese Pay-Per-View Cable Broadcast.  There is  no menu, Song Selection or Features here.  Just the show....but, what a fantastic show it is!

I really didn't have a whole lot of interest in this tour when it came around, now I'm actually sorry I missed it.  These guys really play off each other brilliantly.  The setting is the monstrous Tokyo Dome and they make it feel like it's your local arena.  There is a little "time-elapsed" film during the show's intro that shows the production being built in the dome and it literally sets the stage for the viewer to get an idea of the room that is being played.  Once the music starts, you don't have any idea it's THAT large, which is the ultimate "tip of the hat" to the performers.

The performance is flawless really.  And the setlist couldn't be any better, providing the ultimate cross-section from both careers.  I have to say, Billy Joel singing Elton is more effective than the other way around but I guess it's all just personal preference.  The point is, I wouldn't have guessed that I would even like it!  It's great.  As they trade gems from each of their repertoire, the time flies.  I have to say the hightlight(s) is the last 40 minutes of the show.  Quite a finale and it starts from the classic "Take Me To The Pilot" all the way to the appropriate Encore of "Piano Man".

The sound on this disc is superb, the video is very good to excellent.  It is a low generation tape but certainly a few away from the master copy.  The packaging is basic but adequate.  All in all a very good title.

The best toys are the ones that are both educational and multi-purposeful.
