REVIEW: |
This is one of those vids that you may need to take a Dramamine if you get motion sickness. This is a hand-held, one camera production, shot straight back from the stage on the lawn of the amphitheater.
The Kiss set is much more entertaining and enjoyable than the Aerosmith portion, in my humble opinion. Even though our camera person is trying to master the art of steadiness. This could really be any Kiss concert from the late '70's as they sound great and look great. Tommy Thayer from this distance does a nice job substituting for the absent Ace Frehley. He works as our spaceman and plays accordingly. It's a great set and they really rock. Unsteadiness from the camera and all. Very clear video with zoom in tightness for nice "3 shots".
The Aerosmith set is OK. Mostly due to the fact that they don't convey any enjoyment playing their 70's work. Passion only sets in with their handfull of 90's fare. Clearly they love the blues and they have some fun with the new selections previewed from "Honkin' On A Bobo". Not a video for the casual collector. From the distance this is being shot, the sound delay to the field keeps the performance and audio about a half second out of synch. That, along with the hand-held cam, tells me only members of the Kiss Army will want this one to help complete their collections. |
