REVIEW: |
Alvin Lee and Mick Taylor's
US tour opened in
Binghamton,
New York on November 21st 1981 after three dates in
Canada that happened only two days after the end of the Euro tour in
London;
the next stop was in
Bethlehem,
Pennsylvania on the 24th which is the subject of this release. This release features the whole concert, basically a best of
compared with the longer set lists from the European tour featuring the same opening tracks and the rousing finale, without the middle part songs played on the Euro shows. Alvin Lee band has
Taylor alongside Fuzzy Samuels on bass and Tom Compton on drums also for the
US dates. There is not much stereo separation as one channel is lower and to balance the output it has been increased in volume, adding distortion rumbling effect to the end result, but anyway Lee guitar and vocals stand out as usual and the songs can be listened to when then problem overcomes by listeners habit. The concert starts speeding up with “Slow Down” (no pun intended) and ends with the usual two fast songs "Just Another Boogie" and
"I'm Going Home", probably missing here is "Choo Choo Mama" that was played as the final number.
