REVIEW: |
The
whole show was professionally filmed by Len Dell'Amico and partly released on
the video Blues Alive in 1984 and re-released with three more tracks on the DVD
Jammin’ With The Blues Greats in December 1998; it was also partially released
on 2 cds in 2011 as In The Shadow Of Legends (Blues Boulevard). These tracks
were officially released:
An Eye
For An Eye, Rock It In The Pocket, My Time After Awhile, Messin' With The Kid
(Junior Wells on vocals and harmonica, Buddy Guy on guitar), Don’t Start Me
Talkin' (Junior Wells on vocals and harmonica, Buddy Guy on guitar), Suitcase
Blues (Sippie Wallace on vocals), Shorty George (Sippie Wallace on vocals), The
Dark Side Of Midnight, Baby What You Want Me To Do/Baby What's Wrong (Etta
James on vocals), I Wonder Why (Albert King on vocals and guitar, Frank Dunbar
on bass), Born Under A Bad Sign (Albert King on vocals and guitar, Frank Dunbar
on bass), Stormy Monday (Albert King on vocals and guitar, Frank Dunbar on
bass), C.C. Rider (with all previous guests, Frank Dunbar changing to
harmonica), Room To Move (Frank Dunbar on bass).
Note
also these other guests: on Improvised Blues (Hubert Sumlin on vocals and
guitar), on Improvised Instrumental (Hubert Sumlin on guitar), on Rock Me Baby
(Etta James on vocals), on Blues Improvisation (Junior Wells on guitar) while Stalling
For Time is an instrumental improvisation with just Mick Taylor. In 2016 on
IORR a complete version of this concert coming from a video rip was uploaded, here
it has been slightly reworked by de-clicking it and reworking the transitions
between tracks. This concert was pivotal in Taylor’s career, I believe that his
fascination with Albert King’s songs began here.
