REVIEW: |
The first concert in New Haven is the
subject of volume 9: all
versions were coming from the same recording here. The version chosen was not
so hissy in the first part of the recording; on this part a slight treble
filter was used to increase the listening pleasure and both channels had to be
re-balanced with +20 to 30% to the right channel.
But all this
changes from Checkin’ Up On My Baby onwards: no more treble filter was required
and the channel re-balancing was only of + 10% for the right channel. All
tracks had been edited on all versions probably to get under the 80 minutes mark,
but that recording was running too fast and had to be decelerated by -3,4%.
After that the length was over 82 minutes, so it was decided to separate the
recording for two discs. Note a gap at 3’36 on Looking For Willie probably due
to a tape flip. This recording is not that brilliant as the preceding ones, but
the band still plays well.
