REVIEW: |
The follow up to Digital Lines' excellent "Welcome To The Snakepit Pt. 1" (also reviewed here at HotWacks On-line),so now we get the rest of the show which is essentially the encore portion of the Den Bosch '92 show with an edited but upgraded portion of the familiar Basel '93 concert- and it all rocks!
Touring for nearly 2 years at this juncture, Metallica was arguably at the top of their game and these 2 video fragments prove it. They are loose, confident and really having a great time - particularly in the Netherlands gig. Just before "Last Caress" the band is just goofing around and Kirk Hammett starts noodling out riffs and gives us snipets of The Allman Brothers' "One Way Out" and The Scorpions' "Rock You Like A Hurricane" just to give you an idea of mood here. Great stuff.
While the Den Bosch source is the end of the show, seemingly uncut...the Basel portion is 2 parts edited from the middle of the show but the quality for both is perfect. This is a great document of a critical period for the band. Highly recommended and kudos to Digital Line for the production and presentation here. Very well done.
