REVIEW: |
This recording of the Nashville Memorial Day 2002 TV Special shows the concert held at the Nashville Ryman Auditorium by Willie Nelson & Friends. The footage of this concert hasn t come out officially but for a CD release, the original film broadcasted live from USA Network through Satellite broadcast and featured many friends that helped Willie Nelson assemble the conspicuous line up: Emmylou Harris, Norah Jones, Keith Richards, Dave Matthews (from Montreal), Rob Thomas & Matchbox Twenty, The Dixie Chicks, Aaron Neville, Ryan Adams, Sheryl Crow, John Hiatt, Jon Bon Jovi etc. are some of the guests that come play country licks on stage with red headed stranger and American icon Nelson. The setlist shows many of Nelson's hits and some of his friends classics with great versions of Buffalo Springfield s "For What It's Worth", the Stones "Dead Flowers", Jimmy Cliff s "Harder They Come" and Hank Williams "Move It On Over" that ends the show. A great collection of classic tunes played mostly with an acoustic background even if there are many electrified instruments but always played with taste and sound limitations. |
