REVIEW: |
The novelty of giving this one a view is that I hadn't seen the show in ANY form previously so, this was a highly enjoyable 57 minutes.
There are no revelations here, anyone who is interested in the man and his Strange Sensations ensemble, knows about this show, broadcast on PBS Television in the U.S. back in September of 2002.
Genuine Masters have provided an absolutely perfect document of this event. It is pristine in both audio and video, beautiful. Though I would like to see Robert rock a little harder and stretch it out that way, I now appreciate the cohesiveness in which this group performs. They are great. And I also now appreciate the level at which he prefers to carry on. He'll get back with Jimmy and do something again. But it appears that it will happen, knowing he can go off and indulge in this level of music. That's my take.
Back to the DVD. Did I say a perfect document? There is one flaw with the release. You need a microscope to read the documentation on the back! A minor complaint. The packaging is simple and straightforward with nice enough photography and layout...aside from the verbage on the back! Seriously, snag yourself a copy of this if you need the Austin City Limits Plant show in your collection. The DVD itself IS perfect with nice screen printed graphics on the disc too. Yes, this is a good one! |
