REVIEW:

When this title was announced, there was a ripple of excitement through Zepland fanatics or, maybe more like a "wow...this should be interesting".

Upon delivery, it did live up to interesting but that's about it really.  These are working sessions/rehearsals for Robert Plant's first solo album and aside from the fact that we get to hear the wonderful "Far Post" in its' embryonic stages, there is little else to really get excited about.  Robert Plant himself is pretty scarce throughout this document and Cozy Powell barely exists at all on the second disc, even sporadic on the first!  Aside from the aformentioned "Far Post", this all seems like a Robbie Blunt audition or session.  He was a great match for Plant and I often wondered just what the hell happened that he was gone by album 3...along with most of that initial line-up.  The ones that did stay on, shouldn't have!  Too bad Cozy Powell didn't end up being a member of that first incarnation.  Perhaps if these recordings are a barometer, he couldn't find any inspiration with the project, I know I couldn't with this material.  The participants at various stages of these rehearsals are:

Robert Plant - Vocals (guide vocals mostly)
Robbie Blunt - Guitars
Andy Sylvester - Guitar
Paul Martinez - Bass
Jezz Woodroffe - Keyboards
Cozy Powell - Drums

All in all, it was a scenario that seemed to have some promise but ended up being a release suited for those that need everything.  The common Plant or even Zep fan can go ahead and pass on this one.
