REVIEW: |
The annual “Rock Am Ring” mega-festival in Germany continues to generate stellar-sounding bootlegs thanks to the last several installments being widely broadcast over the web, German TV and (presumably) German radio. I think this may be from a digital cable TV broadcast since it doesn’t have any telltale FM ambiance. Christian nu-metallers P.O.D. put on a rather, ahem, spirited performance for this one, their setlist drawing heavily from their late ’01 release Satellite. Bonus tracks are well-chosen; Bob Marley’s “Get Up, Stand Up” performed on MTV is raucous, rousing fun. (The band does have a compelling reggae element they inject into their sound at times.) The track “Southtown” is unsourced, but it’s essentially an unplugged version of a song from their ’99 album Fundamental Elements Of Southtown, while “Alive” is a non-album tune that turned up on a rock compilation and subsequently became an unexpected radio hit for the band.
Per Pablo packaging tradition, included is a nice-looking 4-page color booklet, plus 2-sided tray panel. – OSWALD |
