REVIEW:

This release presents Mike Millard’s recording of the second night in Los Angeles in 1989 that was released as Mixed Emotions (Bugsy 1993-5) as mono soundboard taken from monitor mix, then Live at the L.A. Memorial Coliseum (Moonlight 9644-45) missing Mixed Emotions, Get Back To Los Angeles 1989 (VGP 087) 1st issue and At The Max To the End (VGP 087) second issue that presented a slightly better sounding recording; some tracks were released also on Atlantic City 89. Later on from Japan came 19 (Mid Valley 185-189) that has this concert in its 6 cds pack coupled with A.City since on both shows Eric Clapton joined the Stones on stage. This show was also featured on the 14 discs box North American Tour 1989 (WLR 2126). This version has appeared as a 2 cdr called Los Angeles Night Two 1989 (Jems Archives 215). The Steel Wheels shows marked the live return of the Stones after a 7 years hiatus and presented a set lists with many hits one after the other prompting Jagger to ask the Los Angeles crowd: “Have You Got The Stamina For All These, One After the Other? I Don t Know”. This is a great recording that has a very strong Wyman presence, but no distortion.

The best toys are the ones that are both educational and multi-purposeful.
