REVIEW: |
About 7 years ago had appeared on the YouTube account of a Finnish
collector (Hedasen Gumbo) a version of Brown Sugar from Helsinki 1970 that had
never circulated before, but it has just been discovered now.
Indeed, the previously
known recording was gradually deteriorating at the end of Midnight Rambler,
therefore the last part of this concert is missing.
This new version of
Brown Sugar is of good quality, too bad it is lossy (since it comes from
YouTube) but we can assume a second recording of Helsinki'70 exists. Maybe if Hedasen
Gumbo will receive a lot of thanks and encouraging comments he will decide to
post more previously uncirculated tracks?
In any case he shall be thanked warmly.
All other tracks come from Live In Helsinki 1970 (DAC 095), that came out in
2009: they have just been de-clicked and the transitions between tracks rearranged
a bit. Other titles for this concert were You Dreamers (Dasuje Njik) that
featured a stereo recording and Helsinki 2nd September 1970 cdr
allegedly coming from a reel-to-reel tape, but also another cdr called Helsinki
Rambler and the recording was featured also in the 20 discs box called European
Tour 1970-71 (Hermeric Society HS 701). No bootlegger has discovered this so
far though.
