REVIEW: |
Surely one of the most underrated Stones tour is the 1970 Europe one,
partly because overshadowed by the 1969 American one that received so much
emphasis due to the Altamont tragedy and the consequent film that portrayed it,
Gimme Shelter and partly because it doesn’t seem to exist a very good sounding
document. Here comes Mayflower that has decided to reprocess the best sounding
vinyl bootleg European Tour Live 1970 (Rubber Dubber 70-008) which came out in
1971 copied by European Tour 1970 (Roll & Rope Rec. 32 and TMOQ 71020); in
1973 Two Great Albums Cheap 2LP (POD Records D-304 and TMOQ 7505) followed the
following year by In Concert (Dittolino Discs 6970-71) 2LP. On silver disc this
show came out in 1990 on Midnight Ramblers (WPOCM 1090 D 057), as Ice Cream In
The Foyer (Coast2Coast 12) cdr, as Germany 1970 (PRO CD 9302) in 1994, then as
Slowly Rockin’ On (VGP 249) in 2000 and Two Great Albums Cheap (VGP 348) three
years later. In 2010 was released West German Roll Over (Godfather Rec. 500),
in 2013 Roll Over Beethoven In Germany (APCD 023) came out offering a remaster
by Cpt. Acid while in 2016 a cdr looking very similar to this release came out
in Japan. This show is also found in the 20 discs box called European Tour 1970
(Hermetic Society 701). This release is great sounding and this recording is
certainly one of the best of the 1970 tour, too bad it is incomplete.
