REVIEW: |
This release
presents the first appearance of the Stones at the New Orleans Jazz Fest after
having tried to play there for some years, this is the only concert held in the
afternoon on the whole tour. Unfortunately, the sound output here is overloaded
with heavy bass since the very first song, it seems it was the original mix
that had it this way rather than taper’s position, however the other
instruments are clearly heard and overall this recording has good stereo
separation. The audience is quite prominent too at times, here again the new
songs seem to have been liked by the audience but we have two guests: Swayne
Dopsie on accordion on Let It Bleed and Irma Thomas on vocals on Time Is On My
Side. This is the last time they played Out Of Time on this tour, the audience
showed not to be very familiar with it, conversely there is a funky version of
Miss You with great bass solo by Darryl Jones but all the show is played really
well.
