The Magic tour has now invaded
Europe
and as many of you know, Italian Springsteen fans are just as rapid as
New Jersey
fans.
It's interesting to hear Bruce speak some Italian during the show.
I enjoyed this show much more than the
Boston
one I reviewed last time.
The sound is slightly better but still is somewhat distant.
After you ears adjust to that, the show is very enjoyable.
You can tell there's alot of energy coming from the crowd.
I'm still having a hard time getting into the new album because of the muddy production.
The songs are on the mark but the production kills them.
That being said, I'm getting fond of the live versions of these songs.
For proof of my theory, listen to the live version of "Girls in Their Summer Clothes" on Rhapsody or ITunes and you'll see it blows the studio version away.
The band, even though up in years can still cut it live.
I guess it can only be described as Magic!
Let's keep our fingers crossed for an official live album.
The setlist has nice inclusions including some of my favs "The Ties That Bind', "Adam Raised a Cain" and the definitive version of "Reason to Believe".
Also played are "Incident on
57th Street"
and "The E Street Shuffle" back to back!
Charles Giordano is sitting in for Danny Federici and does a fine job.
There are four bonus tracks from
Pittsburgh
on November 14th that have slightly lesser sound.
Included is a duet with Joe Grushecky on "Code of Silence".
Godfather has done their typical great job with the packaging and artwork.
(It's a lot better than the cheap-ass digipack that Magic came in - mine ripped the first day.)
Based on the performances and setlist, I would recommend this to die-hards.
Hopefully Godfather will get their hands on a soundboard soon.
