As far as audience videos go, this one is quite good in both video and audio. Clean sound with no distortion. Shot from a balcony vantage point, it offers a clean panorama of the stage and includes decent closeups (mostly of the singer). Given that the singer injured his leg and has to perform sitting down, though, it’s a pretty low-energy performance that even Jack White of the White Stripes (who were also on the bill that night) can’t really do much about when he comes out to guest on guitar for the last song.
As there is a non-existent menu for this DVD-R – the only “menu” is a screen that reads the band/date/venue, with no tracklistings – you have to manually acess each song. Too, there are 15 songs performed but only 11 of them indexed, so it’s a frustrating experience to say the least. Why bother putting a product out if you can’t get even the most minor things about it right? The label at least made an effort to package the thing nicely, with pro-looking full-color art design and live photos taken from the video. -- OSWALD
