REVIEW: |
This recording comes from the first show that Mick Taylor played in Kiev,
Ukraine in 1995. Taylor also played in Kiev in 1997 and what is available from
these concerts comes from Kiev Nights 4 cdr. The 1995 show is the subject of
this release and luckily it is an excellent soundboard recording. The line-up
consisted of Mick Taylor on guitar and vocals, Snowy White on guitar and
vocals, Tim Hinkley on keyboards, Kuma Harada on bass and Jeff Allen on drums. There
is an excellent version of Hendrix Red House with Tayor improvising on vocals
(scatting) at the end; at the beginning of Fed Up With The Blues there are new
lyrics, probably made up by Taylor himself (My baby don’t have to work….) while
Little Wing features just Snowy White. On Can’t You Hear Me Knocking there is
an uncredited sax player who mat have been Anthony Thistlethwait that played sax
on the same song on September 23rd in London, unfortunately the song
ends as Jeff Allen starts his drums solo.
