REVIEW: |
In this volume we get the 1st show from New
York in late February 90; this is the concert from which
Laundromat Blues and You
Gotta Move come, they were published on a promotional 3" cd-single (Fun
House FXD 5029) in Japan in August 1990. Here the line-up was: Mick Taylor on guitar
and vocals, John Paris on guitar, vocals and harmonica, Teo Leyasmeyer on keyboards,
Emmanuel 'Chulo' Gatewood on bass and Damon Duewhite on drums.
There also
had been an audience recording from this show, that had average sound with the
end missing.
Maidenlane's version is very interesting because it has a
better sound than the previous source and it’s more complete containing the end
of Shake Your Moneymaker and the outro which was missing, but missed the mist
part of tuning before the show. Hence, it was
decided to combine both recordings
with the idea of having the most complete recording with the best possible
sound.
Because there was some space left, it was added as a bonus the mixed
versions.
Obviously, the introduction and the end of the concert are absent because
they were only on one of the recordings.
All
recordings have been edited, de-clicked and the channels rebalanced and
synchronized. This time it s hard to choose between these version, the mixed
ones flows more naturally, but the merged one has a wider stereo spectrum, both
are really enjoyable. However, there is an editing issue at 1.30 into Red House
on the merged version with some Taylor introductions that interrupt the song.
