REVIEW: |
On Leg 3 of the Vertigo Tour, U2 returned to Boston and brought 2 legendary shows on December 4 & 5. The Godfather Records brings them both to live on two excellent CD's.
First thing you notice is that they didn't opt for the obvious red and black striped packaging everyone (including The Godfather) uses for the Vertigo releases. In stylish green packaging with excellent photos we are treated to 2 excellent shows. All Shine On and Somewhere In Our Hearts. Both shows are similar in quality as they are from the same taper and both shows are excellent and not that different in setlist except for the intermezzos featuring songs by The Beatles, Clash, John Lennon and some Folk Songs and traditionals.
Both products are excellent and these sets are among the best of the tour quality and setlist wise. Atmospheric recordings with nice dynamics, highs and lows. I have quite a few shows of the current tour and thought I didn't need more...I was wrong. These shows are welcome additions to my collection and I would think the same for ANY U2 collector. Even the average fan or collector should own one of these high quality products.
The Godfather is currently the producer of quality U2 and Springsteen titles and I hope they keep upthe good work! |
