REVIEW: |
An emotional couple of hours for the band and the Glasgow audience. You can feel the mutual admiration as the U2 seem to be humbled and appreciative of the journey they have been on....so we have, a sort of homecoming. Even though this is Scotland.
A nostalgic opening half-dozen numbers and everyone is in a groove. Bono before pomposity set in, is really refreshing to hear. The recording itself is quite good, though it sounds like The Godfather Records seem to have run it through some sort of compression or "enhancement" method that doesn't work. It's either that or Mp3 sourced but I don't hear the shrilling on the high end.
Great package, tops actually...and a nice recording provide the basis of a recommendation here. The recording though even and clear, has a one-dimensional feel to it like its mono. I just think it's due to whatever the label did to it mastering to disc. We've worn out this tirade with this label before so, let's stop right there.
