REVIEW: |
The ARMS
shows were held in late 1983 to support Ronnie Lane’s appeal against multiple
sclerosis and featured a great number of Ronnie’s friends who played in London
in September and later in the Staes.Three great guitarists were featured (Eric Clapton,
Jeff Beck and Jimmy Page) with many other known ones (Bill Wyman, Charlie
Watts, Joe Cocker, Kenney Jones, Ray Cooper etc.). In USA they played Dallas and
San Francisco, then Los Angekes ending the short tour in New York. San Francisco
1st concert was published as Ronnie Lane’s Appeal For Arms and ARMS
both 2 discs sets while The second New York show was released on Arms Concert
USA (Hercules 2-4) 3 cds and New York Grand Finale (Beano 028) 6 cds which
included the 8th December concert, but this combo presents also some
tracks from the San Francisco concert in soundboard quality; the concert is
excellent as well as the recording which includes Bill Graham’s outro: in New York
Ronnie Wood joined the musicians on Cocaine, Seven Days, Feelin’ Alright, With
A Little Help From My Friends, April Fool and Goodnight Irene, Ian Stewart on
Boogie Mama and Glyn Johns on backing vocals on Goodnight Irene.
