Excellent quality import DVD. If I wasn't aware that there is a better print out there, this one would likely rate higher. Nevertheless, I was pleased to obtain this copy. This version is a straight-forward transfer from a low-gen videotape. No effort has been made to "enhance" the video, nor the audio.
While on their "Tattoo You Tour 1981", The Rolling Stones arrived in Chicago in late November for a 3 concert stand. Their first evening in town, November 22nd, the band arranged to hook up with Muddy Waters and his band at The Checkerboard Lounge for some late night jamming and general camaraderie. Needless to say, this is a priceless document of well, musically speaking, "Father & Sons".
This is from the inside liner notes of the digipack:
When Muddy Waters took the stage at the Checkerboard Lounge in Chicago on November 22, 1981 to play a session with members of the Rolling Stones and fellow bluesman Buddy Guy, Junior Wells and Lefty Dizz, no one expected it to become one of his last live concert appearances. Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Ron Wood and Ian Stewart, staying in Chicago for three concerts on November 23, 24 & 25 were excited to meet their long-time idol, perhaps the greatest bluesman ever and, of course, one of the major influences which led to the formation of The Rolling Stones back in 1962.
The meeting took place in an atmosphere of great anticipation, friendship and respect. Hear Jagger during "Hoochie Coochie Man", sing the line "I was born with good luck" and Water's humorous response to Superstar Mick "...I see that". Irresistable!
This is essential to any blues-loving fan, Rolling Stones collector and everyone else in between. What a gas this is to watch in this quality. The audio is excellent and could probably have been upgraded too, with the care of the right hands. You cannot go wrong with this version though! Simply an amazing site to see all of that talent on such a small stage....and all the smiles. To see icons humbled by legends. (Also, in attendance that evening from the Stones entourage are Bobby Keyes, Ian McLagan, Ernie Watts and Mrs. Patti Hansen-Richards and Mrs. Jo Wood.)
... Muddy Waters died in his sleep on April 30, 1983.
