REVIEW:

This release features two shows with the classic lineup of:

David Coverdale (voc), Micky Moody (g, voc), Bernie Marsden (g, voc), Neil Murray (b), Ian Paice (dr), Jon Lord (keyb)

Both shows were recorded at the famous UK Reading Festival.  The first was recorded on 8/26/79 and the second almost exactly one year later on 8/24/80.  Ian Paice had just joined for the 79 show and as most know is one hell of a drummer!  Of course, this was before the big hair and Tawny Kitean.  (i.e. before DC sold his soul to the devil).  Both shows are taken from official BBC transciption discs (LP's) for radio broadcast and you can hear some vinyl noise especially in between songs but nothing that annoying.  The sound is actually the best of all the bootlegs from this lineup.  Both shows are good performances but the 1980 show was the better of the two.  David Coverdale is in good voice and doesn't stray too much into that upper register that I find annoying.  (See "Slip of the Tongue" from 1989.)  As you can see from above, tracklistings are very similar and also don't really add much to the wonderful official live album "Live in the Heart of the City".

Packaging is fairly plain with many silly typo's and minimal pictures.

It's nice to see some Whitesnake reviews.

The best toys are the ones that are both educational and multi-purposeful.
