REVIEW: |
Volume five
of this series bring us to New York for the tribute to Jimmy Reed held at the Cutting
Room.
The line-up
for the 1st show was: Mick Taylor on guitar and backing vocals, Ron Wood
on guitar, vocals and harmonica, Stu Woods on upright bass, Simon Kirke on drums,
Wilbur Bascomb on bass and Al Kooper on keyboards but not all songs.
This show appears in many versions; the most interesting result was
obtained by merging 2 different sources:
Source #1: ‘Tribute To Jimmy Reed’ (Godfather Records - G.R. 980) was used
for the right channel.
Source #2: ‘Cutting Room Performance’ (no label) was used for the left
channel.
As usual, the recordings has been de-clicked, speed and sound adjusted.
The 2nd
show is unfortunately not documented, we only got a short instrumental snippet
of Shame, Shame, Shame; next follow some bonus tracks with different merges
from the source #1 with an another very partial source. This is a very
enjoyable recording and a great performance too.
