REVIEW:

This release presents Mike Millard master recording of the last Los Angeles Forum concert from 1975 that has recently been released as Closing Night at the Forum (JEM Archives 246). Previously, this concert had come out on tape on LA Forum July 13th 1975 claiming to be Millard’s recording and as part of Five Nights at the Forum; on vinyl on Tour of the Americas 75 (Ruthless Rhymes) 3LP, 1975 Tour of the Americas Part One and Two (Idle Mind 1-2 and 2-1), Who Went to Church This Sunday? (Ruthless Rhymes IMP 1101), 1975 Nervous Breakdown (Slipped Discs IMP 1103), 1975 Tour of the Americas (Dragonfly Rec.) 3LP, If You Can’t Rock Me (Flat 8231), American Compendium (Aftermath Rec. 6), 1975 Tour of the Americas (Moonstone Rec. N 61004) 2LP, Shure We Are The Stones (7/8), 1975 Tour of the Americas Special Bicentennial Collector’s Edition (Idle Mind Prod.110103) 3LP, LA Friday Upgrade (Red Tongue Records 019) 4LP & 1 DVD. Some tracks can be found on Starfuckers (Flashback Worldproductions 04-90-0119-33), on 99th Floor Blues (SNL 103-IMPAT), On cd it came out on 1975 Tour of the Americas Part One and Two (Dragoman Sunbird 003 and 007), If You Can’t Rock Me (Stones of Fire 9005), Who Went to Church This Sunday? (VGP 082), Fanfare For The Bootleg Man (Tarantura TCDRS 4-1,2) 3 cd, The Lost Millard Tapes (VGP 340) 6 cd, The Complete LA Sunday Tapes (SODD 073-76) 4 cd, 1975 Tour of the Americas (VGP 284), The Complete LA Friday Tapes (Dandelion 36-39) 4 cd, LA Sunday ‘75 (Sister Morphine 44), I Never Talked To C. Berry Pt.1 & 2 (Silver Rarities CD 10-11), Whores, Cocaine and a Bottle of Jack (E.Valley 43-50) 8 cd, LA Friday 75 (VGP 082), Rockin’ at the Forum 1975 Last Night (SODD 036-37), LA Forum 75 (IMP 026-27), LA Foru July 13th 1975 From the Vault (Cpt Acid), LA Friday (Promotone BV BGDDRS73), Skin and Bones (CTR 1226), Rockin’ at the Forum (Big Music 044-45), American Tour ’75 (IMP 0075-01-02), Live in LA 75 (Headliner 004 & 005), LA Sunday (Mickboy), Forum Los Angeles July 13th 1975 (no label), LA Friday Live 1975 (IMP RS 750713) as part of Tour of the Americas ’75 (WLR 2124) 14 cd & 1 DVD and of Bootleg Series Plus 12 cd & 2 DVD (WLR 2181), on LA Friday Live 1975 (DAC); some tracks can be found on Welcome Back to New York (Golden Stars 1036 and VGP 039) ad on Starfuckers (Flashback Worldproductions 04-90-0119-33).

Fingerprint File is on It’s Only Rock’n Roll By the Balls (no label) and It’s Only Rock’n Roll on The Best of Live in Concert (Living Legend Rec. 070) on Charlie Watts & His Fabulous Rolling Stones (Sunbird Dragoman 007 002 D 2816).

The Millard recording per se was already partially released on vinyl on titles like 1975 Nervous Breakdown and on cd on I Never Talked to C.Berry and in full on LA Friday (VGP 085); some seconds were missing after Fingerprint File until Whores and Cocaine and a Bottle of Jack (E.Valley) came out; here there are also some patches being placed using the official recording   at the end of Ain’t Too Proud To Beg, Fingerprint File and Brown Sugar; however after the end of Happy there are missing parts evidently not recorded by Millard himself. The fact that this recording has been placed on 3 discs allows to get all the in between songs comments and thanks to Millard famous recording equipment we get a very spacious and natural sound which makes this the best possible document of this gig, also due to the fact that the original release is too brickwalled.
