REVIEW: |
For this second volume of the series, there were several versions coming
from the same source: some incomplete (4), others misdated and attributed to
East Lansing, MI (2). The most complete recording, with a good sound and a
complete spectrum, seems to come from Dime from the taper himself. In reference
to the other versions and the previous volume, this recording ran a little slow
and had to be accelerated by +5.5%. According to the notes “the total duration
is 79'57 but it should be possible to burn it on a single cd-r”, but it was not
and the only solution has been to edit the intro by 5 seconds. The sound had
been re-centered a bit more (phase) which also slightly amplified it and the
transitions between the titles have been reworked so that they start with the
songs (at least when there was no cut between the titles).
In detail: on Further On Up The Road there was a short gap before the next
track as well as on Turn On Your Love Light. The Unidentified Piano Instrumental
(which reminds Bridge Over Troubled Waters) featured a David Bennet Cohen solo
while on the Unidentified Piano Boogie Woogie there were David Bennet Cohen
with Colin Allen at the end. On Sweet Little Angel there was a short gap before
the next track while on Got My Mojo Working there was a gap probably during the
encore
. This is a great recording of a wonderful show.
